Randolph Police Department Logistics For Wake of Boston EMS Captain Robert Haley

RANDOLPH —  The wake for Boston EMS Captain and Randolph resident Robert Haley will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Cartwright Funeral Home in Randolph from 4-8 p.m.

Captain Haley, who was instrumental in coordinating the Boston EMS response to the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, passed away Friday after battling an illness. The 35-year veteran Emergency Medical Technician retired last month.

Randolph Police expect a large turnout for the wake, and wishes to advise mourners and residents to be prepared for delays on roads surrounding the funeral home at 419 N. Main St. While roads will remain open, the Randolph Police Department strongly urges commuters and motorists to plan their travel and to avoid the area surrounding the funeral home.

Members of the news media seeking to cover the wake should park on the north side of Nelson Drive and should be in place by 3:30 p.m. in order to minimize obstructions for mourners. Cameras will not be permitted on funeral home grounds.

Members of Boston EMS will participate in a walk-by to honor Captain Haley in front of the funeral home at 6:30 p.m., and will begin lining up at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to pay their respects beginning at 4 p.m.

Captain Haley’s funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. at the St. Bernadette Church in Randolph, and he will be buried at the Cedar Grove Cemetery at 920 Adams St. in Dorchester. No cameras will be allowed inside the church.
