RANDOLPH — Chief Anthony Marag is pleased to announce the promotion of two members of the Randolph Police Department.
Lt. Daniel Zaiter and Sgt. Kinnon Ryan were each sworn into their new rank on Wednesday, June 9.
“Lt. Zaiter and Sgt. Ryan have been valued members of this department for many years with considerable experience in their previous roles and ranks,” Chief Marag said. “Congratulations to both on their promotions. I am confident that they will continue to serve the Randolph community with distinction.”
Lt. Daniel Zaiter
Lt. Zaiter is a 13-year veteran of the department. He became a patrolman with the department following his graduation from the 48th Boston Police Academy Class in 2009. He served as a patrolman from 2009-2019 and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2019. Lt. Zaiter is also an operator of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (Metro-LEC) SWAT team, a position he has held since 2019.
In his new role, Lt. Zaiter is the overnight commanding officer in the patrol division.
Lt. Zaiter previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantryman. He holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from Curry College.
He is married to his wife, Jenna, and they have two children.
Sgt. Kinnon Ryan
Sgt. Ryan is also a 13-year veteran of the Randolph Police Department. He began his career with the MBTA Transit Police Department following his graduation from the MBTA Transit Police Academy’s 13th Municipal Police Officer’s Class in 2005.
Sgt. Ryan transferred to the Randolph Police Department in 2008. He was a patrolman until 2009 when he was appointed as detective, working in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation from 2009-2011. He returned to the Patrol Division in 2011 and was a patrolman and field training officer for the past 10 years.
In his new role, Sgt. Ryan is the overnight shift patrol supervisor.
Sgt. Ryan is also a firearms instructor and the department’s fitness coordinator. He is a long-standing operator of the Metro-LEC SWAT team, a role he has served in since 2009.
Sgt. Ryan is a pervious sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an explosive detection dog handler and trainer. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Babson College.
He is married to his wife, Sherry, and they have two children.
