Randolph Police Remind Residents of Loud Noise Bylaws Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

RANDOLPH — Chief William Pace would like to remind residents about Randolph’s bylaws regarding loud noise ahead of Memorial Day Weekend, and that they apply throughout the day, not just at night.

“The Randolph Police Department wishes everyone a fun and safe Memorial Day Weekend as we honor those military members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” Chief Pace said. “We recognize that a lot of residents will be hosting parties and we just ask that everyone be respectful of their neighbors and mindful of the noise levels throughout the day and night.”

Residents are asked to refrain from playing music and using loud speakers and public address systems from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

In addition, the use of loud tools or equipment, such as leaf blowers and lawn mowers, is prohibited from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays and from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. on weekends.

Randolph Police will typically provide a warning to those who receive noise complaints. If the noise persists or the warning goes unheeded, residents could be subject to fines or be charged with disturbing the peace.

In addition, Chief Pace would like to remind residents that the possession and use of fireworks is illegal in Massachusetts.
