Romaine Sanchez

RANDOLPH — Chief William Pace reports that the Randolph Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred at the Rosemont Square apartment complex last week and a violent assault that took place the same day.

ROMAINE SANCHEZ, AGE 19, OF BROCKTON is wanted on the following charges:

  • Armed Assault with Intent to Murder
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Threats to Kill
  • Discharging a Firearm in a Building
  • Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Striking a person with a firearm)
  • Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Striking a person with a firearm)
  • Threatening to Commit a Crime

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, officers responded to 2 Chestnut West for reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, they found a 32-year-old male victim who had been shot in the face and neck at close range. The victim was taken to a Boston hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

A Randolph Police Department investigation identified SANCHEZ as the shooter.

SANCHEZ is also wanted for arrest on assault charges from a separate incident that occurred earlier that day at the same apartment complex. Between 2 and 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 — approximately 18 hours before the shooting — SANCHEZ allegedly got involved in an altercation with a different man over a piece of stolen property. An investigation into that incident indicated that SANCHEZ brandished a handgun and threatened to shoot the man during the argument, and then struck the man over the head with the firearm and fled.

SANCHEZ was last seen as a passenger in an older model Mitsubishi Gallant with a temporary “donut” wheel on the rear driver’s side tire.

He is believed to be carrying a firearm and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police warn that SANCHEZ should not be approached if spotted. Anyone with any information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Randolph Police Department at 781-963-1212.
